Who we are.
Welcome to the American Institute of Architects Florida Southwest website. AIA Florida Southwest is an all-volunteer organization made up of, and run by, architects from Southwest Florida. Our Chapter serves as a resource to both its membership and to the communities in which we work. Members are provided with opportunities to network, socialize, and be recognized for outstanding design. Continuing education, lectures series, and other events provide the opportunity for architects in the area to meet for fellowship and further their educations. The chapter also participates in advocacy programs at the state and local level to act within our profession to serve the best interests of the communities where we live and work. AIA Florida Southwest is dedicated to serving the community in any way possible, from providing a list of area AIA firms, to offering educational programs. Many of our programs are open to the public. The AIA can also provide speakers or other programs tailored to suit your organization's needs. By belonging to the AIA, our members have made a commitment to meet continuing education standards, and to serve their communities through advocacy programs. We encourage clients to engage registered architects who have made that extra commitment to these and the other principles of the American Institute of Architects by being one of its members. OUR MISSION.
Now more than ever, the collective voice of architects is essential for designing a better future for our country and planet. Even in times of change, AIA’s values remain constant. We are at the table with policymakers who are committed to a better built environment and a prosperous architecture profession. |
Our Values.
Access to good design is a fundamental right, and architects are the agents of change to make this right a reality. We stand for human and civil rights, the universal respect for human dignity, and the unbiased treatment of all persons. Our commitment to tolerance is evidenced not just by the policies we adopt, but in the words we speak, the actions we take, and the buildings we design. |
Our History.
AIA was founded in 1857 by 13 architects. Today, The American Institute of Architects (AIA) works to advance our nation’s quality of life and protect the public’s health, safety and welfare, as it has done for 160 years. |
